    Weekend.... GONE
    What a weekend... =^.^=

Stressful, long, tiring, but paying very good.

Friday: full day, 06:30 travel to Tullahoma, arrival 08:00, worked till 17:00 then travel home (again, 1.5hrs on road, each way)... Saturday was the big one though, arrived at 08:00 down there again, but this time, it went forever. We finally left the customer site at 02:00 Sunday morning... Over-Time for the win... But then, today, Sunday, we returned at 14:00 and stayed till 18:00... And tomorrow, Monday, getting there early, 07:00... to finish, no matter what... We should manage it... but yes, that is the life of a technician sometimes.

    Going...
We all know the old adage: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." Well, what then when the going gets crazy? And I am talking, clinically insane in the membrane here.

How long till one (or all three) of us snap... I guess we are gonna find out. The home office still stands in the way of us hiring help that we desperately need. So I guess all there is left to do, is loose customers despite our grandest efforts.

Now on 2 solitary hours of sleep, after 24hrs awake, and steaming full-tilt into another day, which promises to have more to do in it than 24hrs would normally allow for.

"We the overqualified, under-appreciated, have been doing so much with so little for so long, that we are now qualified to do anything with nothing."

And now its the next day, LiveJournal was being stupid last morning. I did get home at 15:00, but had two hours of overtime for the day already. Today should be more 'normal'.

    That Stress Link
I have found a link between my stress level, and my pain memory. It was about a year ago or so, that I had a case of the shingles. It was mild enough that I could just work through it. Took a little mind-over-matter, because it did hurt pretty bad, but I could take a Goodies and just slog through it. Well now, a year later, I do have some pain-memory still, but it only seems to affect me when I am stressed. Stress level goes up, pain memory follows it... Guh... I know stress is harmful to the body, for a whole host of reasons, but this just sucks.
Especially since I am stuck as the only tech in the Nashville office. Its Scotty, me, and Matt. Scotty is great, and Matt is a quick learner, but still. When it comes to panel programming especially, the buck stops with me, and sometimes Scotty can give an assist. That means, that the programming in the panel for all of our customers in middle and west TN falls on my shoulders. Nevermind that if something is wrong in that programming people could get hurt, etc. So its more than just the install that matters in alarm systems, yes, that has to be right as well, proper methods/setups etc. But the programming in the panel is of critical importance as well. Matt is getting better and better at troubleshooting and getting service done in the field. But whatever he isnt comfortable with, or does not know how to do, falls back to me. Scotty is often far to busy doing work at the shop, trying to bring more work in for us for one. For two, trying to just keep a handle on the customers we have so we dont loose them, and respond to their needs in a timely manner.
Today he is going to AEDC by himself, and I am going to Ft. Campbell by myself, each an hour away, and in opposite directions. Just another day at work, honestly. But the stress level from it all, that is taking a very physical toll, and will continue to as long as we are in this situation.
In a way, its a good feeling, knowing that you are being counted on. That my knowledge and skill with these systems is being flat relied on. On the other paw, it sure dont help the stress, and the pain memory that comes with it... =x.x=

    I are Electwishamen
Had an older Japanese woman call me that one time, an 'electwishamen'. And I just chuckled and nodded. I helped Walter (IronTiger) today at his folks place, where he will be moving to there soon. Got the water heater turned on, and a whole slew of wiring issues resolved. Including getting the threeway switching setup in the main hall working properly, as it was originally intendid to run but no longer did. Generally, a day of going back and forth and checking things, as well as just a whole lot of joint-making and wire fixing. Being a Journeyman for as long as I have been, I can thankfully do all of this with no shocks =~.^=
Anyway, a day hanging out with IronTiger is fun at any rate. Getting to cypher stuff out together again. We were co-workers, once, at I.E.C. together. And would troubleshoot and fix fire alarms together. In fact, we were on the Ft. Knox IBCT project. But that is a story for a different post.

    Work, first half
Went to 1st Acceptance, to add a module to monitor a suppression panel they put in their computer room. They could have called us to put it in, and we would have been more than happy to, but nope... Ohh well, we can still monitor it. Simple little FM-200 System... Raining like the blazes out there, and wind like we see twice a year. I just jokingly say 'tis the season' when it happens. We get tornado outbreaks twice a year. About got myself blown off the I-440 bridge over I-65... Work van got squirrely on that bridge as the wind cought it harder than I have ever been hit sideways by wind in it. Little Chevy Astrovans arent built for that crap. At least I get to have my lunch at the shop today.

    Time
So a year has flown by, and I have been left looking back at it and going "where the hell did that go?"... ohh well. So yea, I have re-considered posting a journal here, heck, anything to give me something more to look back on over the years. So yea, I shall start posting here then. I already do a work-journal now, on upvise.com, a cloud services company. But its strictly work related. And as this will often, and quite regularly contain work updates, and a lot of the same data from there (I may even copy-paste some of it), this is for my friends. And since there is no chance of customers reading this, as they do not know my fur-name, I can be honest about them =~.^= I will try not to give names though, unless absolutely necisary. Well, the peoples names, the customer sites will be named frequently =^.^= Maybe give some insight into what a day in the life of an alarm systems tech is like. Maybe just wind up giving myself that ability to look back at a busy year. We shall see. Anyway, this Lynx needs to head into work, and to be completely honest, I have not the slightest clue what is on the roster for today.

    Day3
As the subject lines on these things are beginning to trend... I am intending to make myself blog at least once a day. Sometimes... its a challenge... Nothing really changed today... though today its looking like I am gonna get to work with my father for the whole day. So, that means more $$ directly, which is a help.
Just trying to take it one day at a time. Looking like soon I will be able to do some computer work for ACS... which will pay directly as well, instead of going against the truck.
So pretty much... that is today... working my tail off for another day... Still no word from AT&T, or any additional info about that... hopefully will hear more soon.

    Get togethers
Ya know, if we keep up the whole furries getting together randomly in the middle TN area, we are gonna wind up with a Con of our own. =^.^= Not that I for one would complain. We have talked about this topic at the last get together, and in time, it may just happen. After all MFM started out as a pizza party. Hopefully this summer will hold even more of these 'get togethers'. =^.^=

    The Condo
We are now the proud new owners of a Condo! Signed all the papers last evening. And now I’m getting ready to head off to work =x.x= After which I’m getting an Armwar (not sure on the spelling there) for the computer at the Condo. As well as starting to move some things over there while foxy is at work. There is so much to be done, and so little time I wanna see it all acompleshed in, that is kinda daunting. We will get it done, but its looking like two weeks, especially once we include cleaning as much as we need to on this house. To be honest (yea, suposed to be honest in a ‘journal’) the cleaning is gonna take quite a bit. Nasty floors, and nearly ruined carpets in certain areas. All absolutely no fun to clean. Its all from having too many cats, for too long. That is being remidied though, as we are finding homes for the ‘extra’ cats, a.k.a. the ones we cant in good fait, take care of. We are reducing to just three cats, and out of those three, if we get any trouble (messing up and not using the litterbox) they will have to be found homes for as well. In several years (probably about five) when we sell this condo (or rent it), it needs to be in at least the same shape as it is now.
Apart from the crazyness of moving, and cleaning... we are really jazzed about the new place, and definatly ready to be living there =^.^=

    Life
Its been a while since I have added an entry here.
And I guess it would be rather odd if nothing new was happening. So, here goes.
We are working on being happy condo owners!
Finally working on getting out of this house, once and for all. Its just way to big for our needs. And way too big (as in sq. ft.) also means way to much in electric bills, and other maint/cleaning, etc. A condo is way more our style, and size.
We have had a good number of kitties for a while now. Two years in fact, for Caylith (the mama-cat), and her sons Goliath and Radar, and her daughter Pixel. Then we have Pixel’s daughter Dakota, who is a very pretty kitty (and yes, she knows it). We are looking for a home for Pixel, to drop us back down to four happy cats. Cause we honestly cant give all five the love and attention that they often -demand-.
Not really looking forward to the moving part, or the helping flip this house part, but its all part of getting out of here. It will be so much easier to keep up with less sq. ft. than this.
Foxy and I just celebrated our two year aneversary! We went to FL for it, and got to spend time on the beach. We saw my uncle Greg, and Aunt Yvonne, who live in Tampa. We got to see that area, and generally just enjoy not having to do a heck of a lot for a while. Then we went on down to my Grandmother’s place in Englewood. Spent some time at Englewood beach, but mostly out on the Island of Boca Grande, which is very near Englewood.
Still working as an Electrician, though I have really begun to specialize in fire-alarm systems. There is a lot that goes into them, and a lot that one must know to properly install them. From elevator controls, to voice-evacuation systems, to phone-line dialers. I are an expert in it though :)
I have recently been eyeing work in the Air Traffic Control field. I’m presently trying to figure out what must be learned, and what must be done to ‘break into’ that trade. Its something I think I’d really enjoy. There are a lot of things to that job, from what I have already read-up on, that I really enjoy. So there may be more on this mentioned in this journal... perhapse a whole heck of a lot more.
I hope to write to this thing more often. My friends have recently prodded me to get back to writing some stuffs here. And I have been toying with ideas of a blog... so this place works really well. Thanks for reading, and to my friends, thanks for being friends with this crazy feline.

    Time, and what it means
Time... what does it mean... so much of it can just fly by, without so much as a note...
Pink Floyd Said:  "So, you run and you run, to catch up with the sun, but its sinking... racing around, to come up behind you again.  The sun is the same in a relative way, but your older, shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."  Age... it affects how we perceive time, and the rate at which it passes.  Looking back at my last post here, I can see some things have changed, and some things have remained the same.
The old phrase goes "The more things change, the more they stay the same", or "Change is the only thing that never changes"...
I'm still active in the furry community, but not nearly as much as I once was...  I'm still in computers as a hobby, presently posting this entry through my own VPN as I'm plugged into a free wifi hotspot.  Working on constructing viable vpn links between myself and friends, so that we can share our LANs as one big WAN.
Trying to get back into RP.... combating the fact that some of the RedDragonInn crowd went elsewhere... but meh... I'm advertizing www.reddragoninn.com now on search engines, so I'll get RPers of our own, but it would be nice to have the old-guard back.  Tasha is also getting me into DRoP roleplays, really fascinating, since I do like the Dragon Riders of Pern book series by McCaffrey.  Its a lot of fun, but does take some more of that precious time... and in it all, me and foxy do manage to find some time for each other.  We have designated Fridays as our day, and wont let other stuff get in the way.
That and working, working working.....  busy as an electrician, sometimes running work, sometimes just as a journeyman under another foreman...  but all in all staying very busy.  Busy is one of the few things that hasnt changed.... just saw my ol LiveJournal was going unused, and decided to post.

    Apology
This, is an apology. To all furrydom really... I have been very very absent as of late, for nearly a year now. And I acnowledge that there are those who miss me, and miss what I have given (and hope to continue to give) to this comunity. I have been away from furry for far too long now. I have a great many friends here, who I know care about me quite a lot. And I acnowledge that some explanation is in order. You furs may remember when last I was seen arround PF, I was talking of being put in charge of a job as a lead electrican, and that that was the reason for my lack of free time. Well, that was true, at the time, but what happened next really is what threw me for the whole loop. That job (it was a Kroger remodel job, a big grocery store) was -huge- and to be completely honest, it swamped me. Of course it didnt help that there are those at the office wanting to see me fail. The job didnt get started right, from day 1, and though I accompleshed a lot there, it wasnt but a month or two and they pulled me off that job, sent me to remedial jobs... etc. Further not helping the issue is the guy the sent to 'help me' has changed a lot in recent years. It was that he was one of the best electricans money could buy... yea, then he followed the money up to Kentucky, got spoiled on the wages up there, and his attitude went to . That all adding up, I was rather pissed at the trade I am in, my work ethic with to quick. I spent the next couple months getting batted arround from job to job as if I were a ping-pong ball. I finally got out of that funk, and am presently running a much smaller job, the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia, or MTSA... A small doctors office like place, its just a tennant-build-out with the shell already in place... It did have some existing structure as well, so in part atleast, it is a remodel. Inbetween all of this, I got married on the first of the year to Journye, my wonderfull foxy bride. She has been nothing but a support, and the best companion a cat like me could ever wish for. I have finished my last year of trade school, will be graduating in June, and was top of my class. They sent me (along with my foxy) to Vegas, to compete nationally against other apprentices. I recon I did pretty good, but did not place in the top 3. We just finished moving as well, into a much larger house, a big improvement from the small one bedroom basement appartment. So, as you can see, 2006 has already been VERY busy for me. The last post, I am compelled to note, in 'Voice Reading of PlanetFurry Stories on MP3' is from a good friend of mine Tygon, and is from July of -last year-. That right there, is part of what I am apologizing for. I hope to do many more recordings soon, of course that depends on getting this computer set back up to do it. I also hope to get the 'Lynx and Vixen Variety Show' back ON AIR at KWKAT. Foxy has even been working on some characters that I hope we can bring to the airwaves soon. Moving is still giong on though, in fact the busy has gotten me to the point that I still have wedding pictures to go through and get printed for family and such. I will also be posting (for you furs at PF) a divix version of the wedding video online. So yea, the busyness never ends. The RolePlay sight I own as well has been down, and I hope to resurect it, considering I still own the domain name. And this time, I dont think I'll try to keep furry, and PF seperate from it, I only did that in the past because of certain user troubles in it. PF is such a warm, welcoming, and open place, I cant see anything wrong with opening the roleplay to those at PF as well. It is not really a furry roleplay, but rather fantasy/mideval roleplay... anyways, that is contengent on me resurecting the site, cause it is -dead- right now. On top of everything else going on, it leaves me feeling guilty about what little time I spend with my foxy. There are simply not enough hours in the day, but I will continue to make the most of em. Thanks for reading my ramble. And again, I'm sorry for my absense, I hope it is over for good.

    The Fun of Wedding Planning
Me and my foxy are presently working out the details and major points of our upcoming wedding. We are aiming for the date December 31st, in the early/late evening, and on into the new year. Ceremony, then reception somewheres about 8PM, carying on, with a midnight kiss for to kick off the new year. Sales people are funny *chuckles a bit*... they know they are selling a dream, fantasy really. So, to them, price dont matter. Problem is, price does matter, and its hard to balance what one wants, with the $$$. Sad really, and I wish that werent the case, but as always, money is an obsticle. It would be darn impossible though if we had not made the decision to basically take my father's bribe. I dont like admitting that fact, but its basically what we did. My father has this very anoying 'my dogma is better than your dogma' problem. I got news for em, my karma ran over his dogma... Ok, puns aside, he saw a show on Discovery Channel, in which Cat, and a few others, were featured. It basically freaked him out. you see, me and foxy wear our tails in public, not arround my parents mind you, but out at the mall and such. It would seem that one of the employees at Modern (my father's company) saw us out and about. It got back, and somehow got misconstrued to a 'racoon tail' and dog collar. Though I admit, the collars were in fact dog collars, the tail is distinctly CAT for me and FOX for her... but meh. Now, basically put, this wouldent have been such a problem, I could have most likely talked my father down from it easy enough, telling him how much of a load of crap the Discovery show was. The problem was compounded though by my brother. Yes, the same brother who I explained furry to, after which he proclaimed "YOUR CRAZY"... followed by "But ya know, Catnip is Legal", since after all, he is a stoner. Something I have repetadly shown my dislike of, but never once gone to mom-n-dad about. I dont support it, but its his life, let him ruin it. This is basically the same attitude he aproached me with a couple weeks back. Telling me that he didnt want to be seen with me in public with my tail on, or foxy for that matter. He was aproaching me with the same 'its your life, you go ruin your reputation' angle. I mostly shrugged it off, it hurt a little that my own brother was so pig headed, but mostly, it just rolled off. Then, in that talk with my father (talking about finances, work, etc.) I was asked by my father what it all meant, and if I was getting into this 'humanimals' thing. Thankfully for my spotted pelt, I was able to play it off as just fooling with my brothers head... I still have yet to talk to him about it. I would not sink to his level though if I had more info about his certain 'addiction'. The resulting problem is, me and foxy now have to play the 'two perfect adventist fiance's', pay tithe, show up at church (on Saturday for Adventists), and basically, we cant wear tails in public anymore. I will play the 'good electrician' and keep it all to myself. We did however, last Saturday Night, go bowling at a local (and I mean, within walking distance) bowling alley, with PrincessB and IronTiger, and all 4 of us wore our tails, no one from Modern is likely to ever show up there. Let em be damned. All in all, its just a bit furstrating. Now... wedding planning, I think I have found the right places open and available for the 31st and into the new year. It took some searching, but soon to be decided, with funds from parents. Since after all, if we are gonna buy this house from them, they can just tack it on the house price (presently paying rent to them). So, as you can see, me and foxy have a lot to gain, should it all work out. A house of our own, tenants upstairs, to pay the mortgage, and financial stability, which I must admit, we really really really want. No more of this 'no money blues'... anyways, thats my rantings for now.

    Nodes
First off, I havent posted here in forever, for that I apologize. What with the great number of ideas bouncing arround in my feline head, you would think I'd write more of em down. This place is perfect for that, and I have not capitolized on it. I have no blog save this space, time I use it.

I'm like a friend of mine, Shroom (Colin by name)... I'll ever change the world... or open a coffee shop. Not sure which, or when. But he has a propensity for making one think, and think outside of the box. I have worked with computers, and had computers as a hobby for a long time now. I can still remember playing on old 286s, and when the first CD-ROM came out (what were we gonna DO with 650MEGS!). They remain a hobby for me even today, and I'm a bit of a self styled Linux computer Geek (Gentoo Linux to be specific). It was then that Shroom began challenging many of the paradigms we take for granted... Showing me slowly that we are living in a box as far as what we expect out of this computer thingy. That by-and-large most of us dont really utilize our computers. They just idly set by as we doodle, browse, or e-mail each other... with 99% of thier effectiveness going unutilized.

Now... what is a node you ask? Your setting on one right now! The Internet, as we know it, is a world of ends, nodes. They are servers, they are PCs, they are routers... all nodes on a great mesh of computers. But all we ever use this data framework for, is sending simple comunication between each other, and sharing the same data over and over again. This works for us so far, since we rarely stop and think of a better way to do it. Furthermore, the way we do things routinely today, is frighteningly insecure. Yes, we have public key cryptography, yes, banks/credit cards use SSL when online... But what about personal stuff, e-mails... chats... thats all out in the open.

The Sad Fact is... we live in an insecure world. There are always those who want to steal, to swindle, to con. Now, I'm not getting all gloom-and-doom, I'm just stating fact. On the internet, we can not seperate the lofty from the debasing, the crud from the cream by just looking at it... its all just data, going from node A to node B. Its an insecure world.

This normally dont pose a problem if all you do is doodle on the computer, maybe look at a few websites, use e-bay every so often to sell or buy something. The SSL between you and the server is good enough, it keeps those sensitive bits (like CC#s) safe, but the rest is open. But lets say, your at work, and want to show a co-worker a nice picture of you and your significant other, and its on your computer at home. Or better yet, you need your 20-digit password/account# off the computer at home, and your stuck at work. You had no fore-warning of needing this data. Or worse yet, you need to tell the home itself (via the computer) to do something you forgot to do (lets say, turn on the dryer)... the list can go on and on and on. Its an insecure world your in though, and now you need secure comunication.

That rant aside (one that is all to familiar to me)... there are the more mundane things. Take for example the fact that most users computers set there and do -nothing- for most of the time. The system-idle process (the process alocated to take up the empty slots), usually sets somewhere about 99% on most desktops. Lets say your a user, who's desktop is this way most of the time... but now you have a DVR, that shoots some new format, and you still want to burn a DVD of your vacation... oops, you now need to re-encode all that video. Your computing need just spiked, you now need more computing power than what is on-board your desktop, and will take your desktop hours (all night... into the next day??) to compute. This is where nodes, a network of nodes, can come in to help.

In exchange for spending your un-used CPU cycles doing other peoples computers work, you get to share the load amung them. You get a 'credit rating' which is signed by an admin ID somewhere up the chain, stating how much you contribute, vs how much you have used. You still get to distribute it pretty evenly amung everyone in your 'group' but if your rating is higher, you get more priority. Your 'group' could be as simple as all the computers at work, and your co-workers home computers. But the point is, ya'll share the load. Even when the work computers (or server) just ran into a database computational load, it takes power from all the other computers in the LAN, and even branches a bit into the home computers. Everyone shares the load, it gets distributed relatively evenly, and everyone gets the perks of having a heckuvalot of computing power at thier fingertips. Think... your home PC behaving nearly like a supercomputer (provided the company you work for has some 100PC's setting arround, with a nice server). Yea, you dont use it but 1% of the time, but same is true for your co-workers... ya'll share the same pool, and more work can be done, in less time.

That is the eventual goal of the idea dubed (by myself) as 'node computing'. Shroom and I have talked at lenth about it, and just now I'm writing down my thoughts on it.

The fun bits get involved when one starts talking security, and ease of use. I have a bit of a background in public-key cryptography, crytpography as a whole, and general paranoia stuff on the PC (especially in Linux)... How to be secure, how much of a pain in the tail it is to be secure, etc. And I'll say frankly... it -is- a pain in the tail to be reasonably secure (not even 100%) on the PC as it stands now. I dont even keep with all the right practices, since computers are mostly a hobby for me. How much less can an average user be expected to take care of thier own security?? Simple... they really cant, its unfair to ask them, or any of us, to go through all these hoops just to be a bit more secure online. I'm a geek, I dont mind the hoops, I understand them, and all the 'whys'... but even for me, its still a pain in the tail to deal with, so most of the time, I dont bother.

This is where a nasty word comes into the mix, "OS"... Acronyms... I hate Acronyms... "DTA" I say... Death To Acronyms! Its the Operating System. Now, for the average user, this = Windows... The way over-grown way over-marketed piece of unreliable crap that Micro$oft has passed out to us all. Now, before you scream 'Microsoft basher!' and stop reading. Realize... I have some backing to what I say. MS has done one very very good thing, its brought computer use to the most of us. They are as much the reason the PC is in our home as IBM, or any other PC manufacturer... in many ways MS made it possible. That being said, they have screwed up the OS paradigm beyond recognition.

An OS (borrowed from Shroom) Should:
Abide by the golden rule: Leverage the systems resources to thier maximum potential on behalf of the system operator.
    1. Manage and provide resources to the system operator, or authorized users, via standard APIs
    2. Support controlled communications between applicaitons and users (IO) and between running systems and applications (networking)
    3. Bring systems and application providers and users together using standards, support, and practices to leverage the systems resources (including APIs, Libraries, Standard Practices, Tool kits, SDKs..)
    4. Collaborate with other systems automatically to increase reliability and capability

It should be a platform, nothing more, nothing less. Reliable platform, on which you do your buisness with applications. It is -not- to be the application, or do any work that an application is meant to do. It is the platform... the foundation... nothing more. Windows tries to be too much, with things like IE, if it would just be the platform, it would work. That being said, there is something to be stated about interface, and standards. Generally speaking, we all access computers with KB and Mice these days... Usually in some form of a Graphical User Interface. In the case of Windows, this GUI tries to toast your bread for you, and piss on your input as to how things should be done. In other words, its not customizeable. Unless you really know how to hack the UI (User Interface)... its set in stone. This would be less of a problem if you could actually make use out of it, and not have it getting in your way. But the simple fact is, we all use computers for different things, and need different stuff presented to us in different ways. This means a certain necesity of customizeablity. For some of us, the Windows GUI works fine, for others, its a ball-and-chain. (Take for example us media minded folk). In My Humble Opinion (IMHO... another Acronym), a UI should be nothing more than a home for the applications. Let the apps themselves determine how thier interface will look. The GUI should be nothing more than a home for them, and sometimes (for some of us) a way to launch our apps. That's it. Its an interface, its how we comunicate with the computer thingy, and get usefull stuff out of it, and put usefull stuff into it.The only other role of the interface, is to give control of the OS to the user, for the -rare- times such things need tinkering with.

Now, back to the node computing paradigm. In order for it to work, everyone (and every resource) needs a unique ID. From here on out, ID is synonomous with a public/private keypair, though the users need not know this. The ID could exist in many many forms. Obviously, the private part of it must remain that... private. So it would be in the more secure forms (A smart-card for example). The public part, well that, could be widly distributed, through public name databases (alot like our phonebooks), as a barcode, on a smart card, or any other media that can hold a couple KB of data.

We now come round to another simple problem faced by many users out there. Backups. We know we dont keep them, hell, even I dont keep them like I should. But stop and think for a minute. All those family photos that you have now started taking with the digital camera instead of the 35mm, perhapse music or video you yourself have recorded. That family vacation when the kiddies were still young, recorded on the DVR. Hardware -is- faulty, it -can- fail. HDDs deplatter, CDR/DVDR RWs can fade (it -is- ink in those things you know). The only tried and true method of data preservation is redundancy. The problem with redundancy is that it puts your data out there for all to see. For example, ye olde backup tape... all one would need is a drive to match the tape, and all they have to do is steal the tape, and viola. So naturally, alot of effort is put into keeping the backups safe. In a distributed sense, your backup could be in the mesh of nodes, encrypted, with a key that only you have the match to. This means, the others out there, keep the redundant backup, so that should your computer go down, the data is still recoverable, provided you have the ID to decrypt it. At this point its also worth noting you will want backups of your private ID. A good place for such a backup would be in an existing secure system (take for example a safe deposit box at the bank). Keep a copy of your ID in escrow with a loved one or family member, so that youre data isnt lost along with you should something happen to ya. So on and so forth, the system would be intrinsically secure and redundant in its data storage.

In order to implement these things though, unfortunately, it requires rethinking some of the OS paradgm. Moving away from the OSes we know, and moving to a more distributed free, and very open, based OS. Akin to the Linux we all know, but with more of a nod to distribution and networking between nodes, including the free (but encrypted) distrobution of processing, grouping of such distrobution, priority, etc. The only thing that can manage such a task -is- the OS, as outlined above. The applications need not worry about it, its taken care of. The data to exicute is there, the data being worked on is there, and there are clock cycles to do the numbers, all is well.

As for my concentration right now, its waneing... so untill I post more... Think on it!

    I know I dont post
I know I dont post here, in fact, I know I dont post much of anywhere (I post mostly at PlanetFurry). But I must chuckle at those who say I dont have a cyberlife, yea, I aint a cyberadict, I was once. I'm a -reformed- cyberadict ;) I have the things I am interested in, and I dedicate a lot of time to em. I dedicate a lot of time to work, which gives me in return not just the paycheck that pays the bills, but satisfaction of a job well done. I dedicate a lot of time to my foxy, out of the love I have for her, and she returns a steadfast dedication to me out of the love she has for me. The result is most wonderfull, and leaves me only wishing I could spend more time with her than with work, sleep, cyberlife, all combined. That is why, before she too was working, all my spare time was spent with her, I would have it no other way. It was spare time, for me to spend as I saw fit, and since cyberlife wasnt a necesity, it was easily cast aside. That signifing a large step for me, since only a year before, cyberlife and I were inseperable. I have nearly (ok, I have) stopped roleplaying... Eventually I'll pick it back up, seeings how its something me and my foxy do together, and we both have roleplay characters. But most of my time online, is spent with friends these days, individuals like Cirrel, Mike Regan, Shroom, Tygon, and company, yea, they are 99% PFers, but PF has been nothing but a warm home in cyberspace for me, with some of the best furs you'd ever want to meet. I am a sucker for a good story, and outside of my foxy, its my favorite passtime, reading and really getting into good stories. Getting so into them in fact, that I have for some time now been working on book-on-tape style recordings for various stories. My enthusiasm for such a project spilled over to Shroom so much that he is tackling Cirrel's epic tale. In short, life is very busy right now, alot going on, in alot of different directions, but I am happy. It wont be too much longer, I believe in my heart, and I will ask my foxy to marry me, I truely believe I'm over alot of the crap that was in the way of my asking. Because of former hurt, I have been reluctant to commit, I'll admit it... But that all is about to change. Monitarily we are together just breaking even, but still manageing to do things together, go to the TN RenFest, etc. So yea, thats why my cyberlife has begun to really specialize, instead of be as broad as it has been in the past... Life itself, the RealWorld Life, is good, if we would just have the rite atitude about it :)

    Update
Figured I aughta post here, and update those of you who actually read this thing. Alot has been going on, and I havent had the chance or interest to post here in some time. Work work and more work keeps me rather busy, and rather tired most of the time (outside of weekends), and my spare time is taken up unwinding by reading more recordings of the PlanetFurry stories, as book-on-tape projects. That really does help me wind down after a day, and just kick back for a bit. The biggest change to happen in my life as a whole though, is that my foxy (Yall here at LJ know her as 'JournyeFox') has moved in with me here in TN, and away from her home in NC. Definatly a good move, and things have been going very well. For example, she can cook alot better than I ever hoped to, between my bakeing, and her cooking, we both have been eating well. It is great to have her to come home to each evening. She is presently looking for a job, but the prospects look good, and soon we will both be working furs, makeing our living together, and shareing our lives with one another. As for that 'M' word, it is comeing, in its own due time, though no date is set, both our eyes are focused on that objective. In short, I couldent be happier right now, life is good, but work is hard, such is life. We do enjoy our time together though, and visiting with friends, or just hanging out, that and we -do- have our hobbies. For example, I have a hobby of winemakeing, its easy enough, and I have inherited it from my uncles, so we have had fun setting up further batches of it, etc. She enjoys reading alot, and kicks some of the better stories my way, and since I'm a sucker for a good story, I now spend a bit of time each day (or try to) reading on them, and she really does know a very good story when it crosses her muzzle. Again, in short, life is very good for this Lynx/Fox pair =^.^= Hopefully we can both post here more often, to let all you curious furs know a bit more =^.^= Hope yall have the best out there!

    B-Day
So yea, its my birthday. Worked it, just like the 4 before it. Ripped my pants today as well, that was interesting... Spending half they day with my arse hanging out of em, but meh ::shrugs:: Atleast my arse was cool :) Work was ok-ish, spent alot of time jumping in and out of a 4' deep ditch, running big pipe. Went to the mall, and finally got that penny whistle I had been thinking about getting. And my foxy sent me a nice birthday e-card, for which I am very thankfull! I am so glad I have my foxy, she is so wonderfull to me. Cant wait till I can see her again. And now, she is online! Other than this recent development, its just work, work, and more work. Dern 23 done gone and snuck up on me... ohh well.

    Been a while
Yes furs, it has been a while since I have posted here in my livejournal. My question to the world, on the whole, as of late... has been... "Why is the fan always on high when the shit hits it?" Needless to say, I have been so busy, that I have been burried up to my tufted lynx ears. -Alot- of stress, and -alot- of WORK. But I did have one WONDERFULLY bright spot in it all. MFM! http://www.leonatolynx.com/mfm8/ for my picture-report of it. Had a BLAST, getting to meet and talk with the authors of so many of the stories I read. As well as get to talk with some of the most open minded, kind, and genuine furs alive, I am sure. Most of all though, I got to see my lovely foxy. We got to spend a good bit of time together there, and I must say, we spoiled ourselves. Being apart now really bites... double what it did, at the least. But it is not forever, we know that for sure... Someday, as we say... we will be together. That project I was on, Indian Creek Camp... yea... its wraping up, but we -STILL- arent out of there. Been there since Feb... spending 3 hours a day, minimum on the road. And wakeing up at 5AM every morning. Even weekend mornings, since I am so programmed. In other news, Tygon came here from Germany, for MFM, and rode down there and back with me and my foxy. He is now rooming here, at my place, atleast temporarily. He pays for it though, so I dont mind. Cool dude on top of it all. And I can honestly say there was more to life presently, but there hasnt been much to speak of... just work, MFM, and more work afterwords. I hope to see my foxy soon enough, and continue with my voice recordings. Just now getting back to where I can get back and swinging at those things, after MFM. I will also be starting a book-on-tape reading of the present released version of "Zig Zag the Story" by James Bruner. That is quite an undertakeing, I understand, but I will be starting on it. So, since this comeing weekend, has nothing sceduled presently, thats most likely what I will be dedicateing a good bit of it to. I'll also be a nice guy and take Tygon to the local Games Workshop, so he can get his Necron's game on... with some other competant players. But I probably mis-spelled that species name, and that probably wont be the only game he plays. Not a super interest of mine, but it certainly is of his. You furs can also start looking for me on KWKAT, as I have begun DJing on occasion for that great station :) As for my free time, I dont have any ;) But furs, and non-furs, I am happy to report... I am doing -FINE-, and am atleast somewhat content.
